Sharing Food. Building Community
An innovative way to fight hunger in our community

You Can Help – We Make it Easy
-
When you are shopping for your family, you can purchase one or two extra items of nonperishable food.
-
Place those items in the provided green bag.
-
Our volunteer will collect the bags of healthy nonperishable food left outside their front doors, every 2nd Saturday of an even month and deliver it to the Madras Community Food Pantry.
-
They will leave another green bag for the next time. It’s that easy!

Join the Support Team
-
We’ve got lots of big and small jobs to do! Help with anything from unloading bags of food to making phone calls to joining our Steering Committee.
Be a Neighborhood Coordinator
-
It takes about one hour a month to coordinate your neighborhoods.
-
Pick up donor’s green bags every two months and deliver them to Madras Community Food Pantry.
-
Leave another green bag.

Be a Food Donor
-
Fill the green bags provided with nonperishable food and put it outside your front door. That’s all there is to it!
-
One full green bag equals about 10 meals. We combine your bag with other neighbor’s bags and together we can feed the community!

FESTIVAL OF TREES and FAMILY DAY
An Opportunity for us to come together to sponsor a great cause!
Join us on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Jefferson County Event Complex (Indoor Arena) for our annual Decorated Christmas Tree Auction and Dinner. Decorated trees will be donated by local businesses, service groups, and individuals. A prime rib dinner, done by Joe Davis of the Black Bear Diner, will be served. Decorated Christmas Trees will be auctioned off, along with donated Silent Auction items.
On Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, families are invited to join us in the Indoor Arena to view the decorated Christmas Trees and vote on “Best of Show”. Join us for a visit with Santa, where you can enjoy a variety of fun activities, such as face painting, peel-and-stick Christmas tattoos, and refreshments at special prices. A $20.00/family entry fee will be charged.
If interested in decorating a Christmas tree, donating a silent auction item, and/or purchasing one of the following:
-
A “Jingle Bells” table for 8 at $675.00, which includes prime rib dinner, two bottles of dinner wine and two centerpieces.
-
A “Stocking Stuffer” ½ table for 4 at $375.00, which includes prime rib dinner, one bottle of dinner wine and a centerpiece.

Hope to move by the end of july 2025
The lease is signed and renovations have begun
on our new location for the Madras Community
Food Pantry. The building is located at 370
Culver Hwy. in Madras. Jefferson County has
purchased the building for our use.
Improvements to the building will include
insulation and interior walls, an HVAC system,
ADA access to the building and restrooms,
along with paving the parking lot. We hope to
move by early June 2025.

Our MISSION
To help people out of poverty by alleviating hunger and food insecurity for those persons in Jefferson County and the surrounding area who are at risk.
How it all began
Our volunteers started handing food out of the office window in 1995. We evolved into a shopping pantry in 2016 and became our own 501c3 nonprofit in 2021.

Relocation efforts: We are partnering with Jefferson County to purchase a building in downtown Madras and hope to move by the end of 2024. Help us today by donating.
